Childrens Centres to Close

Around 47 children’s centres could close throughout the UK over time to save money.  The children’s centres known as sure star were aimed at families who didn’t have much income as these centres are free.

The sure start centres are focused on activities for families and generally run each day.  The sessions last between an hour or two and will vary in what activities are done.

Most of the centres are situated in more ‘deprived’ areas but are used by a mixture of people (large differences in incomes).

If / when the sure start centres close it will leave many families with some hard choices – parents with a young child use the centres for many reasons including knowledge gathering.  Because children are all different and do not have a user manual it is always nice to be able to sit down with other parents to see what they do which is different to you.
